Option 3: Partial dread extensions. Partial synthetic dreads. Partial dreadlocks might be your preferred style but you’re after the extra length that dreadlock extensions offer.
Option 4: Single dreadlock. Getting one single dreadlock suits people who want to get a feel for dreads. This option is ideal for people after a temporary bit of flair as it can more easily be brushed out than full dreadlocks.
One way to half dread hair is to leave the top of your hair natural and just have dreadlocks at the back of your head.
The alternative option is to have a blend of dreads and natural hair.
With partial dreadlocks you can choose how many or how few dreads for your look.
Adding some dreadlock wraps makes for more bohemian dreadlocks.
Partial locs can be achieved by retaining a certain amount of fringe.
Here we have a mix of high, short and parted fringes to achieve a softer look than full dreads.
Having just the bottom third of the back of her hair dreaded allowed my client to achieve this unique look.
These dreads can be worn loosely or tied in a ponytail. Letting out her hair allows the locs to be covered up if desired.
One client has opted to half dreadlock the back of her hair, the other has gone for a three quarter option for her under dreads.
